यदि तुम्हारे मन की एक बात कह दें, तुम्हारी प्रशंसा कर दें तो सब भूल गए। क्या यही जीवन का हित है? कोई पैर छू लिया तो क्या तुम्हारा भला हो गया? मनमानी कर ली तो क्या वह तुम्हारे लिए ठीक है? किसी को कोई प्यार कर ले जैसे कि आजकल नासमझ लड़के-लड़कियां कर रहे हैं, क्या वह बहुत अच्छा हो गया? धर्म गया,देश गया, संस्कृति गई। जानते हो इसके दुष्परिणाम ? जो चालाक होते हैं, खुशामदी लोग वे तुम्हें प्रिय लगने लगते हैं। इसलिए गहराई को देखो कि गहराई क्या है? इंद्रियों के विषय यदि प्रिय हैं तब भी प्रियता में धैर्य रखो । अप्रिय हैं, तब भी धैर्य रखो। हित क्या है, उस पर ध्यान दो। क्या सुख देने वाली हर क्रिया, हर पदार्थ, हर भोजन कल्याणकारी है? क्या दु:ख देने वाली कड़वी दवा, अस्वाद भोजन बुरे हैं? हम लोग तो यह भी कहते हैं कि ध्यान के सुख को भी मत लो।

न स्वादयेत सुखं कर्तृत्व निसंङ्ग प्रक्रिया भवेत।
