गुरुदेव कहते हैं… भारत के ग्रंथ कोई उपन्यास तो हैं नहीं कि एक बच्चा भी पढ़ ले। यदि मैं किसी मजहब का नाम लूँगा तो लोग चिढ़ेंगे और मेरे ऊपर सांप्रदायिकता फैलाने का केस दर्ज करा देंगे। इसलिए मैं किसी मजहब का नाम नहीं लेता लेकिन विश्व में यदि कोई चिंतनीय विषय है तो वह उपनिषदों ने रखा है। विश्व में यह विद्या किसी के पास नहीं है और चालाक देश जैसे योग को पेटेंट करा रहे हैं, कुछ दिन बाद उपनिषदों को भी कराएंगे और बुद्धू हिंदू सब कुछ होते हुए सिर्फ देखता रहेगा। वे लोग थोड़ा बहुत अपने यहाँ का भी कुछ डाल देंगे और कहेंगे कि हमारे यहां भी है।

भारत को आध्यात्मिक भूमि कहा गया है अध्यात्म की प्रेरणा भारत में मिली है, भारतीयों में मिली है। लेकिन दुर्भाग्य है कि तुम्हारा योग विदेशों में प्रचलित है। तुम्हारे उपनिषद् विदेशों में हैं, उनकी भाषा में ट्रांसलेशन है। तुम्हारे यहां ट्रांसलेशन करने वाले खो गए हैं। कथाकार सिर्फ थोड़े से शब्दों की कथा करके गुजारा कर रहे हैं और अपनी जीविकोपार्जन का साधन बना लिया है।

उपनिषद् जीविकोपार्जन के ग्रंथ नहीं हैं। ये जीवन देने वाले ग्रंथ हैं। ऐसे ही संन्यास सुविधा पाने का, पैर छुआने का, फ्री फंड में रोटी खाने का मार्ग नहीं है। लेकिन अब क्या होता जा रहा है ? अब तो ऐसा लगता है कि संन्यास लेते ही इसी के लिए हैं। क्या यही है संन्यास का फल?

एहि तन कर बिषय न भाई । स्वर्गउ स्वल्प अंत दुखदाई।। हे भाई! इस शरीर के प्राप्त होने का फल विषयभोग नहीं है, ऐसे ही संन्यास का फल सुविधा लेने के लिए नहीं है। संन्यास का फल दुकान चलाना भी नहीं है, संन्यास का फल ब्रह्म होना है और ब्रह्म होने के लिए धैर्य चाहिए।

कश्चिद्धीरः प्रत्यगात्मानमैक्षदावृत्तचक्षुरमृतत्वमिच्छन्। संन्यास लेकर यदि ब्रह्म प्राप्त नहीं हुआ तो संन्यास लेने का एक अपराध किया है। इसलिए एक दोहा प्रचलित है, किस का बनाया हुआ है यह मैं नहीं जानता ।
ब्रह्मज्ञान पाया नहीं कर्मदीन छिटकाय। तुलसी ऐसी आत्मा घोर नरक में जाय।।
जो मेहनत की कमाई खाते थे, वे हराम की खाने लगे । ब्रह्म ज्ञान पाया नहीं कर्मदीन छिटकाय। जिम्मेदारी भी छोड़ दी। यदि आत्मनिष्ठा नहीं होगी तो जिंदगी में भटकाव आएगा। इसलिए उपनिषद् को बार-बार सुनो। कब तक तुम्हारे पर असर नहीं पड़ेगा? सिर्फ इरादा आपका हो, मुमुक्षुत्व तुम में हो, समझने की इच्छा, जिज्ञासा तुम में हो । सुनो, अपने आप समझ में आ जायेगा। कुत्ते-बिल्ली संकट से बचने का रास्ता ढूंढते रहते हैं धूप से गर्मी से ठंड से बचने का उपाय ढूंढते हैं। यदि आपको मोक्ष की इच्छा होगी तो तुम चैन से बैठोगे ही नहीं। ये तुम्हें जिज्ञासा मुमुक्षा चैन से बैठने नहीं देगी।

हमें कौन कहता है कि सुबह जल्दी उठ जाओ और ब्रह्म के पीछे पड़ जाओ? हमें तो कोई कहने वाला भी नहीं है फिर भी सुबह जल्दी उठ जाते हैं और ब्रह्म चिंतन में लग जाते हैं। जिज्ञासु चिंता करता है, चिंतन करता है, उसे नींद नहीं आती। ये प्रेम चंद मिश्र जब विद्यार्थी थे तब हम संन्यासी बन गए थे। हम यह तो नहीं जानते के उस समय इनमेंं कितनी लग्न थी परंतु एक दिन गुरुपूजा का पर्व था, सब साधू सो गए थे। हम और ये पड़े- पड़े …. कि यह सच है कि वह सच है? बस, ब्रह्म चिंतन में ही सारी रात गुजर गई। जैसे किसी की सुहागरात? आप नहीं जानते कि साधू की सुहागरात क्या है? बस ब्रह्म चिंतन में सारी रात निकल गई। आज भी नींद खुल जाती है तो फिर और क्या करेंगे , क्या विवाह का चिंतन करेंगे? क्या स्वर्ग का करेंगे?

या तो हमारा चिंतन देश के लिए होता है या ब्रह्म का। और कोई चिंतन नहीं है। जिस देश में गंगा है, गायत्री है, गीता है, भागवत है, रामायण है, उपनिषद् हैं वहाँ ब्रह्म के अतिरिक्त यदि कोई चिंतन है तो वह मेरे लिए अपने इन भारत वासियों का है।

इन बच्चों को जब मैं भटकता देखता हूँ तो चिंता होती है कि ये हमारे बेटे बेटियां थोड़ा सा पढ़ लिख कर कंप्यूटर सीख गये, दो-चार गीत गा लिए और भटक रहे हैं। इन्हें जिंदगी बनाने का ख्याल नहीं आता, स्टेटस बनाने का ख्याल आता है। स्टेटस कोई जिंदगी है? यदि स्टेटस ही कोई जिंदगी होती तो फिर आत्महत्या क्यों करते हैं? मैं पढ़ाई का विरोधी नहीं हूँ। कहीं यह मत समझ लेना कि स्वामीजी खुद पढ़ नहीं पाए तो दूसरों के लिए खंडन कर रहे हैं।

गजेंद्र त्यागी ( एक बहुत ही नजदीकी भाग्यशाली शिष्य जिन्होंने गुरु चरणों में रहकर अपनी देह को त्यागा) एक लाइन सुनाया करते थे। देखो, चेले हमारी बात सुनें या ना सुनें पर मैं चेलों की बात जरूर सुनता हूँ। वह कहते थे कि झूठा खेले सच्चा होय सच्चा खेले बिरला कोय। यदि झूठ से भी शुरू करोगे तो शायद सच हो जाए। नाटक के साधु बनो, शायद धक्का लगते लगते सच्चे ही बन जाओ।
